CUG NSS Volunteers Promote Cleanliness and Environmental AwarenessSeven-Day Rural Annual Camp Concludes at Kothav Village

Vadodara: The National Service Scheme (NSS) of the Central University of Gujarat (CUG) successfully organized a seven-day Rural Annual Camp at Kothav village in Karjan taluka of Vadodara district. The camp aimed to promote community participation, social responsibility, and experiential learning among NSS volunteers, while addressing key rural issues. During the week-long camp, volunteers actively participated in cleanliness drives, environmental awareness programmes, health camps, educational activities, and village surveys. These initiatives helped establish strong coordination and meaningful engagement with the local community. Volunteers also spread awareness on social and environmental issues through wall paintings and slogan writing.Expert sessions on environmental awareness, eradication of superstition, and societal readiness for social work were conducted, enriching the overall learning experience of the volunteers.120 Ayushman Cards and 78 E-Shram Cards Facilitated Through Door-to-Door OutreachDuring the camp, volunteers facilitated the registration of

120 Ayushman health cards, 78 E-Shram cards, and 10 pension schemes through door-to-door efforts. Villagers were also sensitized towards adopting a drug-free lifestyle. A plantation drive was carried out to promote environmental conservation.

Additionally, a Gram Vikas Baithak Samiti was formed to encourage community participation in village development. Initiatives such as “One Child, One Teacher,” cultural programmes, and direct interaction with villagers further strengthened community bonding. The valedictory function, held on Friday, was attended by Prof. Atanu Bhattacharya, Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) of the Central University of Gujarat, as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the dedication of NSS volunteers and emphasized the vital role of youth in nation-building. Welfare cards facilitated during the camp were also distributed to the villagers on this occasion. The camp was conducted under the guidance of NSS Coordinator Dr. Manoj Vanara, along with Programme Officers Dr. Baldevbhai Prajapati and Dr. Sonal Sharma. The successful completion of the camp reflects the spirit of NSS and its commitment to community service and rural development.
