
Vadodara. The School of International Studies at the Central University of Gujarat (CUG) organised a national seminar on Monday on “India’s Foreign Policy under the Modi Regime: Regional Instability, Global Ambitions and the Quest for Viksit Bharat @2047.” The seminar brought together scholars, researchers, and academicians from across the country to deliberate on various aspects of India’s foreign policy in an evolving global scenario.

Dr. Neeraja Gupta, Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University, attended as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the session, highlighting the broader academic and policy dimensions of India’s foreign policy. She emphasized the ‘Nation First’ approach and pragmatic diplomacy adopted during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure. The session was presided over by Prof. Sanjay Jha, Dean of the School of National Security Studies. Prof. Atanu Bhattacharya, Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) of CUG, conveyed his best wishes for the successful conduct of the seminar. Dr. Uttam Kumar Sinha, Senior Fellow at the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), served as the keynote speaker, sharing his perspectives on India’s strategic challenges and critical foreign policy issues. Prof. Manish, Dean of the School of International Studies, welcomed the guests and stressed the importance of scholarly engagement in policy formulation.

The seminar also featured the release of Dr. Sinha’s book, “Trial by Water: Indus Basin and India-Pakistan Relations,” which provided insights into regional geopolitics and water diplomacy. Over 60 research scholars participated in the seminar, while more than 30 academicians presented papers on regional security, global ambitions, diplomatic strategies, and India’s vision for Viksit Bharat @2047. Dr. Manish Barthwal, Assistant Professor of the School of International Studies and convenor of the seminar, noted that the event aimed to promote continuous scholarly dialogue to better understand and shape India’s foreign policy.
